Looking for an Excalibur alternative?
HyperShift Pro is another Premiere Pro extension built around the same habit: keep your hands on the keyboard, find the effect or transition you want by name, and apply it without opening a panel. It also does the timeline setup work — adjustment layers, aligning, spacing and stacking clips.
The two products overlap, but they are not the same size. Here is an honest read of where each one fits, including the places HyperShift Pro does not reach.

Neither of these is the better product in every situation, and pretending otherwise would not help you decide.
Where HyperShift Pro is the easier call
If you are on Windows and running Premiere Pro 26, HyperShift Pro covers the search-and-apply workflow and adds the layout work — aligning and distributing clips, nudging spacing and position, stacking with an offset — for $20 once. If that describes your setup, it is the cheaper way to stop digging through the Effects panel.
Where HyperShift Pro cannot help you
If you edit on a Mac, HyperShift Pro is not an option today — the macOS build exists but is unreleased, and buying now does not include it. If you are on an older Premiere release, it is not offered for versions it has not been tested against. And if you lean on presets, that is not part of what HyperShift Pro searches. Excalibur covers all three.
How HyperShift Pro works
One shortcut, one field, then out of your way.
It is not a docked panel and it takes no screen space when you are not using it.
Press CtrlSpace anywhere in Premiere and a small floating bar appears over the timeline. Type part of an effect or transition name and results filter as you go, badged so you can tell a video effect from an audio one at a glance. Choose one and it is applied to every matching selected clip — then the bar dismisses itself and focus goes back to the edit.
The same bar carries the setup work that usually costs a dozen clicks: dropping an adjustment layer above the selection, aligning and distributing clips, scrubbing spacing and position, and stacking clips with a frame offset. Undo behaves the way you would expect — a whole layout drag is one step, not one per frame.
What it does not do is worth stating plainly: it searches Premiere’s built-in effects and transitions, not third-party plugins, and not your project’s sequences, bins or media.

Excalibur is listed at $120 plus applicable VAT. Both are one-time purchases rather than subscriptions, and both allow two machines. At $20, HyperShift Pro is the lower-cost option for Windows editors whose Premiere version it supports — which is a narrower group than Excalibur serves.
